Frugal & Organized Kids Room

So we have been in our new house for about 2 years and I feel like we have been treading water as far as redecorating the house. We have made some good progress on the dining room and  kitchen. That is where we are currently  still working so maybe by the end of the summer I’ll have a kitchen & dining room after! We have had a lot of expensive setbacks like a tree falling on our home, gas pipes breaking, garage flooding… I think you are getting the idea. This summer we are saving up to buy a new transmission for my husband’s suburban. So any redecorating that happens this summer will be on a shoe string! But I figure we can do an as is tour and maybe include some of our ideas for the room.

Even when we get our rooms decorated Better Homes and Gardens will not be begging me for a photo shoot.

Right now this is the twins room but after the triple bunk is built it will be the boys room.

This is our daughter’s side of the room we purchased her bed set at Bed Bath & Beyond on sale with a 20% off coupon. We got the fluffy pink pillow at Wal-Mart. Our friends gave us the daybed when they were downsizing their home. My parents purchased the curtains for us when they came to visit.
IMAG0884I am always trying to keep things organized so this back of the door shoe organizer has kept their shoes neat and somewhat tidy. We also keep the hats on the back of the door. The boy has 4 or 5 hats which are of course all over the house since they aren’t on the door. It’s a small room which makes it even more critical to keep it organized or we won’t be able to find anything in our busy home.

Here is their closet with the doors open. We have put the dresser in the closet to save drawer space. Above the dresser on the shelves are clothes in the next size for the twins. They keep their snuggies on the clear tote on their dresser. They have some shelves on the side of the closet where we keep jeans, sweats and extra shoes.

So this is where we are with the smaller of two kids rooms. I am pretty happy with our organization and tidiness but I would like to get a more unified theme in here.  Do you have any organization or decorating ideas for us?
