Well over the past two weeks we started both track & field and baseball. So my relatively serene life will be crazy for the next 6 – 8 weeks while we cart kids all over tarnation. We are had our first track meet on Thursday. All of our track meets are out of town and start at 4 pm and end at about 7pm. Which means we are out during dinner time. I started to add up the potential cost of eating out to our pocket book and it was enormous!
6 track meets at $45 for dinner = $270
I recently lowered our grocery budget to $500 per month. This one activity could add $270 to our grocery bill. Instead we are going to have cereal for dinner at this track meet. I recently decided that cereal for dinner is a legitimate dinner. Now the total cost will be $7.50 and I will be able to keep that within our $500 budget.
Remember we don’t have to do what everyone else does. Sometimes with a little forethought we can still save money and stay within our budget.
