22 Books for Teaching Elementary Physics

The Study of Physics is one of those courses that even as adults we have a hard time explaining, much less tackling. But in a Classical Curriculum it is important to introduce the children to all of the disciplines so when they are older they have a already created a “hook” to put information on. For our older students we are using using Elemental Science for the Grammar Stage, but the younger ones we put together these 22 books to teach Elementary Physics this collection of books. Many of them have simple experiments for the children to perform within the book or at the back of the book.

Well, Physics” is the natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force.” Here are  22 books that will guide you and your elementary student through the study of Physics .

What to Read

  • Light, Shadows,Mirrors and Rainbows
  • Sound is All Around Us
  • Oscar and the Bat
  • Make it Balance
  • What Makes it Balance
  • What Makes a Magnet
  • Switch on, Switch Off
  • Energy Makes Things Happen
  • Oscar and the Bird
  • Feel the Wind
What to do

For younger children I focus on a basic understanding and exposure. For example my 5 year old can tell me the 3 states of matter but I don’t worry about him providing me with a details about the molecules or the definitions of the forms etc…

  • Read each book several times to your children over the course of week.
  • Complete the experiments that you will find within the book. I’ve found that small children really learn well through hand on activities.

May the Lord bless you as you seek to diligently educate your children.
