Encouragement for a Homeschool Mom’s Heart

ihnbible

Instead of giving you a long list of verses that you might find encouraging, I have only included verses that have encouraged me personally as a homeschool Mama. Homeschooling is tough and having these verses and thoughts have helped strengthen me.

In our family we have special needs children and the self imposed guilt can sometimes really pile up for me. As a reminder that I am not the giver of wisdom to my children has been a blessing. So for several years I have included this homeschool verse in my homeschool planner as both an encouragement and a reminder:

“For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;” Proverbs 2:6-10

This verse gives me the confidence to teaching knowing that wisdom and understanding is not up to me but up to my Lord Jesus Christ. So I don’t have to worry about holes in their education, the Lord knows what they need to know.

This is a quote  is not in the Bible but I think it really expounds on this verse from Matthew 11 and is an encouragement for a homeschool Mom’s heart:

“If you are feeling weighted down as a result of your decision to homeschool, you have, more than likely allowed someone to dump something on you that God, Himself, would not ask you to carry. It may be a standard or a tradition, or an image, or a false assumption or feeling of fear, guilt, or inferiority. Whatever it is — and before it totally shipwrecks you you must do a little serious inventory and toss that stuff overboard by ruthlessly ridding yourself of anything that does not pertain to life and Godliness!” Skeet Savage

That quote was from Skeet Savage from the Book Homeschooling for Eternity (which I highly suggest you purchase). It beautifully relects what Matthew 11 says:

As it says in the word “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”Matthew 11:30

Although this is not a verse, I would encourage you pray each day before and for your homeschool it has been a huge encouragement to me. This has both resulted in changes in children but also in the heart of this homeschooling mother.

May the Lord turn toward you all and shine his face upon your sweet homeschools!
