Shark Week

Welcome to Shark Week.

Our family absolutely love sharks because a couple of years ago we listened to Shark Wars as part of our Summer Reading Program. These books also launched us into an atypical study of sharks which lasted all summer.  love Shark wars because it does teach the children about sharks and their general personalities. The kids love it because it is fast paced, contains compelling characters and it’s super entertaining. Well, I just discovered Shark Wars has added 2 more books to their series. So while my children are standing in the front window eagerly waiting for the UPS truck, we can explore sharks in a more, shall we say educational manner as we jump feet first back into the great deep.

Books for Shark Week

Okay, I admit it this is not the normal high quality reading, his Berkeley English Literature Major, normally suggests but our family really loves this series and I think  you will also.

Okay here is my obligatory high quality literature suggestion
“Am going to cross Pacific on a wooden raft to support a theory that the South Sea islands were peopled from Peru. Will you come? …Reply at once.”  That is how 6 curious men came together and decided to make a 4,300 mile voyage through shark infested waters.

Movies for Shark Week

I really like to use documentaries to add depth to our studies throughout the year and anytime the kids take an interest in something. Documentaries are an easy way to give them more information about the subject in which they are interested. Additionally, are easy for Mama to review.

Art for Shark Week

Drawing sharks is a great way to really focus and take a close look at sharks . Art lessons from Hodgepodge make the complex simple and she’ll have all your little artists doing swimmingly! So this might be a good time to take a bite out of art?
