Bread Machine Pizza Dough Recipe

My family loves pizza and we tend to like to eat on Friday’s during “Family Fun Night”. However,  this is complicated by the fact that every Friday we have activities that often get us home either late or tired! So the way I often simplify the process  was to bust out the bread machine, a staple in this homeschoolers kitchen. So if you are short on time or just don’t want to kneed this is the recipe for you.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons dried granulated yeast
  • 3 cups bread flour (You can substitute 1/2 the amount for whole wheat)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup water, plus
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions for Bread Machine Pizza Dough

  1. Put in the bread machine in the order listed
  2. Set the machine on Dough Cycle
  3. When done, remove and let rise apx. 30 minutes in a warm area
  4. Then shape into a pizza and add toppings
  5. cook at 425* for 18-25 minutes (You want the crust to be lightly browned & melted cheese)

**Note for a crispier crust, cook the crust first for about 12 minutes.

Remember this is a frugal pizza so here is an idea to make your topping stretch. We normally make a “Deluxe pizza” which to us means it has green peppers, olives, pepperoni, sausage and left overs. No not all of my kids eat a Deluxe pizza but those who don’t like something just pick it off and keep on eating! Next, use leftovers…. Yes, I said leftovers but for the love of Pete don’t put peas or something weird on it! We often search our fridge and find things like a bit of onions, browned hamburger meat, 1-2 pieces of bacon, taco meat, left over chicken etc… things that make sense to you to put on your pizza. By making a Deluxe pizza my expensive ingredients like pepperoni & sausage stretch because they are not star performers they  have to share the stage with the less expensive ingredients.

So after a busy day I certainly hope that this recipe for Bread Machine Pizza Dough helps your family relax and enjoy a homemade pizza as much as ours.

Now don’t forget the rest of your pizza:

  1. Homemade pizza is the best. This is almost the same as the one we like to make. I sometimes like to add some herbs to the pizza dough.

Have a great week! Stopping by from the Homeschool Mother’s Journal link up.
