apron evangelism

Today we are putting away all of Christmas decorations and cleaning the house. (Last night we took Dad (Wayne) to the Emergency Room so due to the lateness of the night we are sticking close to home today.)One of the things we really work on is keeping the girls busy. We have a lot of reasons for this but the main reason is 1 Timothy 5:13 which in the Kyle translations states idle women gossip and get into trouble and so do idle little girls! (Here’s the NIV “Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.” 1Timothy 5:13) Other reason is Titus 2:3-5 (3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:3-5). Now this is not an “all work and no play house” but we really do try to make sure they are playing constructively or working constructively. Ultimately these little bitty ladies will marry and run their own households. My constant prayer for them is that they be a blessing to their husbands and their children. I’ve had to learn all of these things as an adult we hope to spare the girls of the many things we’ve had to learn the hard way. I praise God that we came to him and that his instruction book lets us know how to raise these children in which he’s entrusted to us.

  1. I love reading the scripture you provide with the ways you raise your girls!! Even though I didnt see it at the time, there was a real reason for it!
I worked at a camp this summer, with upperclass girls, and you would be amazed at how clueless they were about cleaning! One of them even told me they had maids for everything and all her mom ever did was bring her to school…sometimes! I love the pictures!!! I remember doing the floors…maybe cause that was just yesterday, lol!!!

  2. The thing I’m liking the most about apron evangelism right now is that cute little apron!! I’ve got to get a couple of those!!

Are you coming over this week?
